An Indian court has sentenced to death some men convicted inside the December gang rape and murder of the young New Delhi woman, ordering those to the gallows to get a brutal attack using a moving bus that left the young lady with such severe internal injuries that she died fourteen days later.
The death sentence, passed down Friday, must be confirmed by India's High Court. The men can appeal their case for the High court, and enquire the president for clemency.
The victim's family, in conjunction with numerous politicians and government officials, had long needed the men to get executed. The situation has become closely followed across India, seen as reflection on rampant mistreatment of ladies plus the government's inability to handle crime.
